Are Mike Spence and Steve Cox using taxpayer dollars to defend themselves from truthful and accurate charges leveled against them by former Supt. Castillo?

There is no talk from Spence and Cox about the legal fees charged to the district during this time.  Spence, especially, always complains about legal fees, except when EdisonLearning or he personally is involved.


Update as of 10-22-2011

On October 20, 2011 Steve Cox and Mike Spence blamed the economy, Sacramento, and everyone else except themselves for the financial mess known as San Jose Charter Academy.  San Jose Charter started out underfunded and was such a hurry San Jose Charter was the only charter school in the state of California not asking for a waiver on deferring payment - THE ONLY ONE!

The District CFO sends money out of the district without authority - no problem.  To get it back, demands authority to get back your money!!

Spence, Jimenez, and Cox new plan - do not give a loan, just forgo having San Jose Charter pay for any services.  They already do not pay for the school, now they do not have to pay for payroll services, maintenance, janitorial services, or food services!

You, the taxpayer, just keep paying

San Jose Charter did not want $1,200,000 in loans.
THEY WANT $2,000,000!!

Some good news - The school district will not have to pay to use the kitchen during lunch service at the school.

San Jose Charter gets the school for FREE, but they agreed not to charge us to use part of the school.

West Covina Unified will pay for all maintenance at the school - everything, but daily janitorial service.  They destroy carpets - you pay.  The Charter rents out the school - You pay to maintain it.

You pay 100% of the cost of the school, but West Covina Unified children get 40% of the spots.

$1,200,000 more to Edison.  $16,000,000 school for FREE.  $20,000,000 we need for our children, not enough

At the April 12, 2011 Board Meeting it was announced that
San Jose Edison cost is $16,000,000, not $12,000,000.
Previous amounts did not include $4,000,000 in additional spending
to remodel and repair the school.

Cox wants to slash and burn when it comes to the budget.
Slash and burn means - close schools, fire people, cut programs.
Jimenez wants to raise the cost of school lunches.

Slash and burn cut everything but Edison Learning.
Per Cox, Jimenez, and Spence - "DO NOT CUT EDISON!"

Cox, Jimenez, and Spence vote to give Edison Learning $200,000 more - take money from your children to give to NYC Company.

Three Board Members continue giving millions of dollars
to "For-Profit" New York Corporation -
depriving our children of funds needed for the education they deserve.

up to $9.00 per square foot - Edison FREE.
